Immunofluorescence is used in almost all aspects of biology and is widely used in research and clinical diagnostics applications, including the evaluation of cells in suspension, cultured cells, tissue, beads and microarrays for the detection of specific proteins.

In Immunofluorescence, antibodies are chemically labelled using fluorescent dyes and these antibodies then bind, either directly or indirectly to the antigen of interest.

The antigen can then be detected using fluorescence and visualised using confocal microscopy.
